Shogran in Winters

Shogran is a village situated on a green plateau in the Kaghan Valley, northern Pakistan at a height of 2,362 metres above sea level.
The village was affected by the earthquake of 2005 when some building were damaged.
Shogran is only 10 km from Kiwai village and 34 km from Balakot. The road from Islamabad to Kiwai is metalled and measures 212 km. From Shogran, you can ride a jeep or horse or hike to several picturesque places like Siri, Paye and Makra Peak. Hotels and motels are easily available at affordable costs. Mobile phone services is also available there by Telenor and Mobilink. The local people are friendly and peaceful.

Lalazar

The Hill Station which one can not afford to miss.Once the forest was thick and dense but due to selling and burning of wood by locals make the forest the to scattered.And now unfortunately damaged badly by earthquake.Dont know about the locals whether they escape or not from the tragedy.
I think the beauty of this hill station is somewhat bitter first damaged by cutting of trees and now by earthquake
Hope everything will be ok soon.My best wishes are with people living there but i perhaps dont like the way in which they cut trees rapidly without planting new ones for the sake of money and this is perhaps the biggest cause of this big Devastation.(Landslides)
Mountains could not bear the loads by earthquake because no trees are left there to hold them firmly.
People should realize the fact that these trees are not useless they have the ability to hold mountains and control landslides.They should live in mountains without disturbing nature in this way it should be save for themselves.
I must blame the forest department and government for this careless behaivour towards environment.

 

Jiwani (Balochistan)

iwani or Jwani is a town and commercial port that is located along the Gulf of Oman in the Gwadar District of the Balochistan province in Pakistan. It is located near the Pakistani border with Iran. The town has a total population of 25,000 and is expected to become a major commercial center in concert with the development of the port of Gwadar located nearly 80 km to the east.wani is located at the eastern end of Gwadar Bay, which is shared between Iran and Pakistan. The area around the bay includes an important mangrove forest extending across the international border, and is an important habitat for a wide variety of wildlife, especially the endangered Olive Ridley and Green Turtles. Plans to grant fishing concessions and offshore drilling rights are potentially a threat to the wildlife of the area. The population largely depends upon fishing. There are a number of export oriented fish freezing plants located in Jiwani. Jiwani is 34 km from the Iranian border. Jiwani holds strategic importance in the region, located immediately adjacent to the shipping lanes to and from the Persian Gulf. This is the main reason that the town hosts a small naval base and an airport with a 5,500-foot runway.
